Heat treatment using resistance heating equipment

The heat treatment method using resistance heating equipment is a universal and most commonly used weld heat treatment method in machinery, in power industry and in construction of processing plants. Using a variety of heating elements and heat treatment equipment with several independent control elements we can define and maintain the required temperature of large and complex welded steel parts or several smaller weld joints. We have more than 15 years experience with the above heat treatment method, which is used mostly on construction sites in Czech Republic and abroad.

Heat treatment facilities by combustion gas with high-speed gas burners

The size of components in modern plant and vessel construction has led increasingly to the realisation that it is no longer possible to carry out heat treatments with traditional equipment and procedures. Heat treatment which are stationary and permanent are often too small to accommodate large components. Furthermore the components may be so big and heavy that transport to the facility is inconvenient and extremely expensive.

For these reasons, offer two ways to solution:

The first method of application means creating a temporary furnace on the annealed body itself by “wrapping” it into heat insulation (before, thermocouples must be installed). This method is very quick and less expensive, however, it can be used only with bodies of a specific shape – after a temporary blanking of most of the openings, their inner space forms its own temporal furnace. Hot combustion products of the mobile burner then enter the body through one opening and exit through the other. The burner crew must maintain a slight overpressure inside the body to maintain a homogenous thermal environment. With this method, there is no problem in annealing small bodies and, also bigger bodies.

The second application method regarding mobile gas burners lies in the co-operation with light, heat insulated panels inclusive of a supporting module construction for the panels that we deliver to customers. The construction is used in the case that it is necessary to create a temporary annealing furnace of smaller or larger dimensions, e.g. 5 m by 5 m by 25 m. In this method of annealing, burners are inserted into the front wall of the furnace – in the case of longer furnaces, against each other in opposite corners of mating walls – in the case of short furnaces; burners from only one side are sufficient.

These two procedures have one thing in common - the hot products of combustion generated by high velocity method provide the thermal energy required for the heat treatment. The temperature of the hot air stream is used to control the heating rate of the components so that it meets the requirements of the specification.
